A year-long programme of events
Ballina 2023 will mark 300 years since the formal establishment of the town by Lord Tyrawley in 1723. A programme of events throughout the year will offer a chance for the community and our diaspora to celebrate, to connect and to make memories together that will last a lifetime.
Events include Mayo Day 2023, the Mayo.ie Western People Women’s Mini-Marathon, the Connacht Fleadh and Festival, ‘Communities Creating Change’, an international assembly on sustainability in partnership with the Mary Robinson Centre, a spectacular Macnas Community Parade, live music performances, arts, cultural and sports events and lots more.

This tercentenary offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the people of the town to create and participate in an exciting, inclusive year-long programme of events that will leave a solid, meaningful legacy for the future.

From spectacular signature events, to neighbourhood street parties, it will be a time to connect, to celebrate and create a bright new future.

Join our Volunteer Programme
Ballina 2023 has a Volunteer Programme in place in partnership with Mayo Volunteer Centre and Volunteer Ireland.
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer across the year, from stewarding at events like the Mayo.ie Western People Mini-Marathon, Mayo Day, the Connacht Fleadh, or the Macnas Parade. Training and event briefings will be provided.
There are also opportunities to assist with marketing, PR, communications, podcasting, content creation and graphic design.
