The event of a generation is happening in Ballina, and it’s time to get involved!
Though the first signs of settlement in Ballina, Co. Mayo date back to the 1300s and the founding of the Augustinian Abbey, in 2023 the town will mark 300 years since its formal establishment by O’Hara, Lord Tyrawley.
This milestone offers an opportunity for the community of Ballina and its environs, past and present, to create and participate in an exciting, inclusive year-long programme of collaborative events and activities to celebrate the town, and to create a legacy that will last long into the future.
Over the course of the year, our programme content will range from thrilling, large-scale events of international interest to community-led events that will offer the people of Ballina meaningful, creative opportunities to connect with each other.
Ballina 2023 will honour the past, celebrate the present and inspire hope for the future.
A year of celebration, a lifelong connection.
