Ballina 2023: What it Means, by Lisa Hallinan, Project Manager

Ballina is surrounded by an unrivalled natural landscape. Situated on the mouth of the Moy in Killala Bay with the majestic Nephin as a backdrop, it is home to the largest urban woodland in Europe, Belleek Forest.
Its built heritage compliments this beautifully, having one of the finest streetscapes in the country, Pearse Street.
It mirrors the path of the river through the town and is home to the wonderful Jackie Clarke Collection and Gardens.
With its reputation as a friendly, warm and inviting town, it is, however, the people of Ballina and their active community spirit that is Ballina’s greatest asset. Ballina has so much to be proud of.
Being from neighbouring Enniscrone in Co. Sligo, Ballina and its people have played a big part in shaping my outlook on life.It was the big town to us growing up, the bright lights of Ballina! The social scene was hopping and allowed us as young people to celebrate life and make lifelong connections Something we also aspire to during Ballina 2023.
Having worked on projects like this across the country for many years, I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the communities here in Ballina in realising their shared vision for Ballina in 2023, and into the future.
