Ballina Carers’ Support Group Open Information and Family Fun Day – Saturday, September 30

Saturday, September 30
12pm – 4pm
The Jackie Clarke Collection
Free Admission
Ballina Carers Support Group will host an inclusive Open Day on Saturday, September 30 in the Jackie Clarke Collection from 12pm to 4pm.
Invited to the event are carers, those in receipt of care, their family members and members of the public. All ages and all abilities are welcome to attend. The open day offers an opportunity for people to learn about what Ballina Carers Support Group does as a group, supporting family carers in Ballina and throughout Mayo.
In the 2022 Census, 7% of the population in Mayo identified as unpaid carers, the highest in Ireland. It is vital for family carers to know they are not alone and that supports are available locally. Ballina Carers’ Support Group provides peer support, affordable respite and educational courses, and promotes the mental and physical health of a marginalised and isolated sector prone to loneliness, chronic stress, burnout and mental illnesses like chronic anxiety and depression.
On the day, a number of organisations will attend to share information about their services, including Mayo Mental Health, Mayo Sports Partnership, Shore Farm Pony Therapy and Cara Music Therapy. Croí will be on hand to offer free blood pressure tests and advice.
Refreshments will be provided and for younger guests, there will be lots of entertainment to enjoy including arts and crafts with Ballina Costume Company, fun with Toons and Balloons and a children’s disco with DJ Chris Lawlor. Entertainment will also be provided by the Ballina Folk singers.
Access to a sensory room will be available on the day if required.
This is a FREE community event , and everyone is welcome to pop into the Jackie Clarke Collection on Saturday.
