Are you aged 18 – 24 and interested in shaping Ballina’s future? Ballina 2023 would like to hear from you.
As part of its legacy programme, Ballina 2023 is providing an exciting opportunity for young people aged between 18 and 24 who are from Ballina, North Mayo or West Sligo, to gain experience and training in events, music programming, radio and digital broadcast media, sports training, the arts, community leadership and youth voice.
Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with BCRFM, Rio Ferdinand Foundation, Macnas, Warner Music and Ballina 2023 and receive mentorship, training and accreditation as part of the programme.
The programme will particularly focus on developing capacity in:
- The Arts, Youth Theatre
- Media – Digital, Social and Radio Broadcasting
- Events & Hospitality
- Professional Development
- Community Development & Youth Voice

Community Leadership and Diversity & Inclusion
Receive training with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, the agency founded by Rio to support and empower young people to realise their potential.
(2 x 2hr sessions)
Explore how young people can have a voice in creating change with Rebecca Corcoran, Mayo North-East.
Supporting your Mental Health
Session with Jenna Walsh and Padraig O’Hora from Mayo Mental Health Association
Participate in one or more of the following, May – July 2023:
- Sports-orientated Train the Trainer programme with Daniel Gorman of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation
- Macnas Community Parade with preparatory rehearsals and workshops
- On the Road – Regional Radio Broadcasts with Ballina Community Radio
- International Sustainability Assembly with the Mary Robinson Centre

Social Media Savvy
A Training Academy with Louise McDonnell.
Louise is the founder of SellOnSocial.Media Agency, a digital marketing agency where businesses and non-profits can outsource their social media and digital marketing.
