Leave No Trace Training, Saturday September 16

Last weekend was a busy one in Ballina! As well as Cannonball Ireland roaring its way through town, a much more peaceful event was taking place in Belleek Woods on Saturday, September 16.

As part of its RISE: Legacy Programme, Ballina 2023 presented a Leave No Trace Certified Awareness Course, delivered by our own volunteer Stuart Garland a certified Leave No Trace Trainer.

Throughout a day of outdoor discussions and activities, this course covered the seven Leave No Trace Ireland principles and discussed outdoor ethics in Ireland, equipping the attending participants with the tools and techniques for disseminating low-impact skills to others.

The weather worked in favour of the event and a really lovely day was enjoyed by all, with some valuable skills and knowledge acquired.
