How lovely it was to see delegations from Ballina receiving such warm welcomes in the US and France this week. We, in turn, look forward to extending the warmest of welcomes in return as delegations arrive during the year for the Ballina 2023 festivities. ![]()
Cllr Annie May Reape & Cllr. Mark Duffy and our steering group members Mags Downey Martin and Declan Turnbull visited our sister town Scranton, Pennsylvania, a relationship formally established in 1990 (and the hometown of President Joe Biden!)![]()
Councillor Michael Loftus was welcomed in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which celebrates 25 years of twinning with Ballina this year, and a party of more than 60 will visit Ballina from Pittsfield this July. Minister Dara Calleary TD visited the birthplace of General Humbert in Saint Nabord, France - significant given the #YearOfTheFrench festivities in both countries this year marking 200 years since Humbert's death. And finally, Cllr Seamus Weir flew the Irish flag proudly in Philadelphia where he also visited the Irish memorial. ![]()
We can't wait to extend just as warm a welcome to our visitors from France and the US later in the year. ☘️![]()
