We’re seeking a Volunteer Co-ordinator – could it be you?
Since we launched in September, we’ve received a phenomenal response to our call-out for volunteers, and we’d really like to thank everyone who has made contact with us to offer help of any kind so far.
As planning and preparation for our year of celebration ramps up, we are now seeking a Volunteer Co-ordinator.
This position is also a voluntary role and would suit someone who has an interest in event and people planning. Working from home is an option, but ideally the candidate will be located close to Ballina, where workspace can also be provided if needed. Some attendance at meetings will be required. Training, support and direction will be provided for the duration of the project. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
It’s a great opportunity to gain an insight into event planning, management and promotion, valuable work experience for career progression as well as being involved in community development on a fun, fulfilling, once-in-a-lifetime, transformative project for Ballina.

The main duties will include:
- Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation.
- Recruit and interview volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for a position.
- Carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Garda Vetting checks if/where appropriate.
- Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers through regular informal contact and more structured reviews.
- Monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers and their work.
- Attend committees and meetings.
- Maintain databases and undertake any other administrative duties.
